Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment at Northside Forsyth Hospital in Cumming, Georgia. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to adult patients who require close monitoring and advanced interventions, but do not meet the criteria for intensive care.

The Progressive Care Unit manages a diverse patient population with complex medical conditions, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and post-surgical cases. The ideal candidate will be adept at continuous patient assessment, medication management, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Progressive Care Unit setting, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and other physiological data, responding promptly to changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications safely and accurately, including titratable drips and IV infusions.
• Manage and maintain various medical devices and equipment, such as ventilators, central lines, and feeding tubes.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
• Participate in emergency response situations, including code blue and rapid response events.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or similar intermediate care setting.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
