Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Pulmonary/Thoracic Job Summary

This is an exciting 12-week travel assignment for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Pulmonary and Thoracic care. Located in Sandy Springs, Georgia, this role involves providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals requiring close monitoring and advanced interventions for respiratory and thoracic conditions.

The successful candidate will work 12-hour day shifts, three days per week, contributing to a collaborative and dynamic healthcare environment. This position offers an opportunity to leverage your expertise in a specialized PCU setting, caring for a diverse patient population with complex pulmonary and thoracic needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of pulmonary and thoracic patients, including respiratory status, cardiac rhythm, and neurological function.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate dosage and documentation.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and lab results, escalating concerns to physicians as needed.
  • Manage patients with various respiratory devices, including ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and oxygen therapy.
  • Provide care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, and other thoracic surgical interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records.
  • Respond to emergent situations and initiate appropriate interventions.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
  • Demonstrated experience caring for pulmonary and thoracic patient populations.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
