It is a Level 3 Trauma center. It is recognized as a Stroke Center of Excellence. It also has a Bariatric Center of Excellence and Chest Pain Center. The department has 19 OR suites, with 17 rooms blocked for scheduled cases. The average number of cases performed per day is 50. The main surgery specialties include trauma, ortho trauma, ortho total joints, spine, hearts, vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, and robotics. Experience circulating in a variety of cases is required including trauma, ortho trauma, ortho total joints, spine, vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, robotics, general, bariatrics, urology, ENT, eyes, pain, and plastics. First-time travelers will not be accepted for this position. The candidate must have a flexible and self-driven attitude, as well as being a motivated team player. They should be discerning and accommodating to case requests. Support within the department includes clinical supervisors, charge nurses, educators, unit secretaries, and tech engineers. The average call requirement is six shifts per six-week schedule, with a 45-minute response time. Holidays will be worked by the traveler for approximately 75% of the time. The scrub color specified for the department is provided. The culture within the department is collaborative and supportive. Candidates are required to have charge nurse experience and proficiency in scrubbing for night shift contracts when necessary.
