Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment on our Med-Surg Orthopedics unit at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, Maine. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality patient care within a supportive hospital environment.
The Med-Surg Orthopedics RN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries and various medical conditions. Working under the supervision of the Unit Director and Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse, the RN will perform patient care functions in accordance with the State of Maine Board of Nursing regulations and hospital policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients on the Med-Surg Orthopedics unit.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
Manage post-operative care for orthopedic patients, including pain management, wound care, and mobility assistance.
Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall patient condition, promptly reporting any changes to the medical team.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication regimens, and discharge instructions.
Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in electronic health records, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards of practice to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
