Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment on our Med-Surg Orthopedics unit at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, Maine. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality patient care within a supportive hospital environment.

The Med-Surg Orthopedics RN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries and various medical conditions. Working under the supervision of the Unit Director and Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse, the RN will perform patient care functions in accordance with the State of Maine Board of Nursing regulations and hospital policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients on the Med-Surg Orthopedics unit.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
  • Manage post-operative care for orthopedic patients, including pain management, wound care, and mobility assistance.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall patient condition, promptly reporting any changes to the medical team.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication regimens, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in electronic health records, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards of practice to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
