Job Description

Job Title: RN, Post Surgical Care Profession: Nursing Specialty: Agency Staff RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: RN License in the state of Michigan Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Experience with NGTs, Drains, Chest Tubes, Wound Vacs, Blood Transfusions, Mobilizing patients, Heparin Drips - Excellent communication skills - Ability to work effectively in a team - Reliability and completion of standard work Description: Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as defined by professional standards. Demonstrates competency through the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds standards of professional performance, including ethical practice and evidence-based practice. Strives to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Education must include an Associate's Degree in Nursing. Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program is required. Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills necessary. Strong time management and organizational skills are essential. Ability to make quality, independent decisions is required. Analytical and strong problem-solving skills needed. Ability to maintain confidentiality and listen to others is important. Competency in the use of computer hardware and software systems is required. Essential Functions: Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures. Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Acts as a patient/family advocate. Performs point of care testing as required. Demonstrates a high standard of ethical and culturally sensitive behavior. Formulates decisions based on ethical principles using the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Advocates for privacy and security of patient and organizational data. Assesses the overall needs of the patient/family and analyzes data to identify potential issues. Identifies expected outcomes and develops an individualized plan of care. Evaluates patient and family educational needs and employs appropriate teaching strategies. Initiates patient discharge planning at the time of contact. Ensures accurate and timely documentation. Assumes leadership roles and delegates appropriately to facilitate safe, quality patient care. Engages in activities related to professional role and seeks to continually advance knowledge and competence. Participates in ongoing improvement activities that contribute to quality patient care. Actively participates in safety initiatives and completes all required competencies and requirements in a timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
