- Must be comfortable with orthopedic, total joint, spine, and general/laparoscopic cases.
- Scrubbing skills are a plus but not required.
- Experience with eye cases is helpful but not required.
Description:
The Operating Room unit consists of 4 operating rooms and 6 procedure rooms.
The average number of cases per day is 46.
The unit performs a variety of common surgical procedures including:
- Eye surgeries
- Orthopedic surgeries
- Gender-affirming surgeries
- ENT surgeries such as tonsillectomies, septoplasties, and sinus surgeries
- General surgeries including hernia repairs, thyroidectomies, resections, and laparoscopic cholecystectomies
- Excision of masses and port placements
A charge nurse is part of the team, along with surgical techs.
The electronic medical record system used is Meditech.
Shifts start at 0700, and there is flexibility for 10-hour shifts if needed.
Weeknight call requirements include 1 night per week from 1700 to 0700.
Weekend call requirements necessitate working 1 weekend every 4-6 weeks from Saturday 0700 to Monday 0700.
There may be requests to assist with call on holidays, with a response time of 1 hour.
Floating is limited to between operating rooms and does not extend outside this area.
Client-provided scrubs are the required uniform.
The unit values attendance, punctuality, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with quick turnover of cases.
A physician-friendly culture is an important aspect of the unit.
