Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred Description: Position reopened per client request. This is a mid shift position from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The type of patients/cases in this role include limited Pediatric (ortho only), Adult, and Geriatric. This position mainly focuses on orthopedic procedures, including Mako total knees, total hips, and gamma nails. It also covers podiatry cases such as bunion and ankle scopes, as well as foot fractures. Additionally, it involves hand procedures for fractures and CMC. Further responsibilities may include spine and craniotomy procedures, with specific techniques like ALIF, DLIF, TLIF, Kypho, and Crani. General surgical cases, including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, colon procedures, and robotic surgeries, are also part of the scope. Urology cases like TURP, cystoscopy, and stone procedures may be included as well. On-call duties are required, 1-2 times per week and every third weekend. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:1. The competent nurse demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation and practices independently in a similar clinical setting. They provide both routine and complex care, with the ability to plan for long-range goals. Continual development of skills to cope with and manage clinical contingencies is essential. Making appropriate assignments and delegating to other care providers is part of managing clinical situations. Responsibilities include meeting the expectations of applicable competencies. In accordance with established nursing standards, the nurse provides care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addressing the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families is crucial. Administering medications and treatments according to protocols and monitoring for side effects are required. Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided is necessary. Assessing learning needs and providing education to patients, family members, and caregivers is part of the role. Identifying issues and resources effectively will be necessary for success in this position.
