The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are essential. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development is emphasized with an focus on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Using the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care. The RN emphasizes patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. Educational and professional experiences are applied in delivering quality care and mentoring or precepting staff. Key responsibilities include: - Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or based on patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound, independent decisions. - Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. Reviews and revises the plan as necessary, collaborating with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization and patient/family. - Evaluation: Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. - Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. This includes care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. - Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor or preceptor. Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. Complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the Practice Governance model.
