Registered Nurse - Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse for a critical care assignment within the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in Corvallis, Oregon. This role involves providing specialized care to patients recovering from various surgical procedures and anesthesia.
As a PACU RN, you will be responsible for the close observation of vital signs, initiation of pain management protocols, and administration of fluids. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in recognizing and effectively managing potential complications that may arise in the immediate post-operative period, ensuring optimal patient recovery and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Provide continuous and comprehensive monitoring of patient vital signs, neurological status, and pain levels post-anesthesia.
Implement and manage individualized pain control strategies.
Administer intravenous fluids and medications as prescribed.
Assess for and promptly intervene in post-anesthesia complications such as respiratory depression, hemodynamic instability, and altered mental status.
Collaborate effectively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care transitions.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients recovering from surgery.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a PACU or Critical Care setting.
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oregon.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Healthcare Provider level).
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
