Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care.
Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are essential to this role.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit.
Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is also crucial.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
Patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction are priorities.
The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care.
Mentoring and precepting staff are also key components of this role.
Job Responsibilities:
Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care.
Reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families.
Evaluation: Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions.
Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
Education is appropriate to the care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge.
Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor and preceptor.
Demonstrates and encourages teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes.
Complies with regulatory standards and participates in a governance model.
