The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Perform assessments and reassessments as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrate the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development & Implementation: Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care. Review and revise the plan as indicated. Collaborate with the patient/family and interdisciplinary services. Utilize resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitor and document response to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education specific to patient/family needs. Address care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Function as a mentor/preceptor. Demonstrate and encourage teamwork. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement. Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implement practice changes and comply with regulatory standards. Participate in the Practice Governance model.
