Description:
Unit consists of 13 operating rooms and 2 minor procedure rooms.
On average, 60-70 cases are performed per day.
Experience with common cases such as OB GYN, Neuro, Vascular, Endo Vascular, open orthopedic, plastics, interventional pain, ENT, eyes, and da Vinci robot is expected.
Candidates must have a strong background in scrubbing.
A charge nurse will oversee operation; travelers may be asked to take on additional responsibilities.
BLS certification is required.
CST certification is preferred for travelers.
Permanent hires must obtain CST certification within 1 year of hire.
Call schedules will be rotating, typically allowing staff to schedule their call.
RNs may expect to be on call every 4th to 5th weekend, depending on the service line.
During the week, call expectations may include 2-3 shifts per week for main operating room service lines.
The response time for call is 30 minutes.
Floating may occur to other specialties; familiarity with endo or vascular services is necessary.
Dress code is specific to the unit or department.
Conflicts with surgical staff may occur.
A weekend call rotation includes either three or four call shifts every six weeks.
