Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, Maine. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care within a dynamic surgical environment, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients undergoing various procedures.
As an OR RN, you will play a critical role in the surgical team, assisting surgeons and other healthcare professionals before, during, and after operations. Your responsibilities will include preparing the operating room, monitoring patient vitals, maintaining sterile fields, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical journey.
You will operate under the direct supervision of the Unit Director and receive shift-specific guidance from a Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse, working within the established policies and procedures of St. Joseph Hospital and the guidelines set by the State of Maine Board of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the operating room setting, adhering to hospital policies and nursing standards.
- Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures, including scrubbing and circulating duties as required.
- Monitor and assess patient's physiological and psychological status throughout the perioperative phase.
- Maintain a sterile environment and ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members.
- Respond to emergent situations and provide critical care interventions as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Full COVID-19 vaccination status, as per state mandate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Telemetry experience.

Licensing Requirements
