Job Title: RN - OR Circulator Profession: RN Specialty: OR Circulator Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day/Evening Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: One year of full-time experience in the operating room required License: Current RN license in the state of practice required Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred - Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) preferred Description: This position assists surgeons and anesthesiologists and coordinates the flow of equipment, supplies, and staff during surgical procedures. It assures patient safety throughout the perioperative phase of care. The role involves participation in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment. The RN is competent to circulate in the operating room during surgical procedures. They must be knowledgeable of and consistently apply the principles of aseptic technique. The RN is responsible for safely operating all equipment routinely utilized in the operating room. They prepare patients for surgery, including safe and appropriate anatomical positioning. The RN performs pre, intra, and post-procedure patient care planning and assessment following established criteria. They handle and dispose of biohazardous materials from operative procedures safely. The RN accesses facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for patient care or other job-related responsibilities. They demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill job-specific responsibilities related to patient safety, emergency preparedness, and control of hazardous materials and waste. The RN documents the temperature of tissue/allografts, verifies package integrity, and delivers to the sterile field as per manufacturer guidelines. They efficiently use downtime for job-related or unit-specific work, including chart auditing, cleaning, restocking, and training. The RN performs other job-related duties as assigned.
