Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR RN) Job Summary

This is an exciting contract opportunity for a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in San Rafael, California. The role involves providing expert perioperative nursing care to a diverse patient population undergoing various surgical procedures. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic surgical environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and safety throughout the surgical experience.

As an OR RN, you will be integral to the surgical team, supporting procedures across multiple specialties. This position requires a high level of independence and clinical proficiency in a fast-paced setting, contributing to the efficient and effective delivery of surgical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs and providing instruments, supplies, and medications.
  • Monitor patient's physiological status during surgery and respond to changes appropriately.
  • Maintain a sterile field and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques.
  • Document all aspects of nursing care accurately and thoroughly.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide post-operative care and education to patients and their families.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Peri-Op 101 Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
Skills & Competencies
  • Demonstrated independence and proficiency in surgical procedures across the following service lines: Urology, Vascular, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Spine, Ophthalmic (Eyes), and Plastics.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Proficiency with standard operating room equipment and technology.
  • Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
