Job Title: RN First Assistant Profession: RN Specialty: Endovascular OR Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Endovascular OR License: Current RN License in the state Certifications: BLS and ACLS from AHA required; CNOR preferred Must-Have: 1 year Endovascular OR experience Description: This position requires an RN First Assistant with experience in the Endovascular OR. The RN will circulate and/or scrub procedures in the Endovascular OR. The RN will perform direct patient care activities for all age groups. This includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments. The RN will utilize the nursing process to provide patient care. The RN will maintain professional accountability for the provision of patient care. Patient rights and confidentiality of patient information will be maintained. The RNFA must have knowledge of anatomy involved in surgical procedures. The RNFA will demonstrate an understanding of important nursing interventions. The RNFA will identify unique first assisting requirements. There will be a need to supervise personnel to promote readiness for surgical procedures. The RNFA must strictly adhere to principles of aseptic technique. The RNFA will apply principles of infection control. The RNFA will have knowledge of methods of providing wound exposure. Proper and appropriate suctioning techniques will be utilized to improve visualization. Techniques for hemostasis will be used appropriately and effectively. The RNFA will evaluate patient outcomes and document accordingly. The RNFA serves as a resource to other perioperative staff members. The RNFA will continue to contribute to the patient's evaluation and care through discharge. This role requires ongoing education and the ability to keep current on practices in the field. The role involves collaboration with other RNs to enhance patient care planning and outcomes. The RNFA must exhibit a commitment to service standards and best practices in patient care.
