Job Title: RN-First Assistant Profession: RN Specialty: Endovascular OR Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 1+ year in Endovascular OR License: Current RN License in the state of Missouri Certifications: BLS and ACLS from AHA only; CNOR preferred Must-Have Skills/Experience: 1 year Endovascular OR RNFA experience required Description: This position requires endovascular operating room experience. Candidates will circulate and/or scrub procedures in the Endovascular Operating Room. Direct patient care activities for all age groups will include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Candidates must monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. The RNFA will utilize the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintaining professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients is essential. Candidates will evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers. Coordination of patient care in conjunction with other departments is part of the role. The RNFA will maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Duties and responsibilities must align with established guidelines of nursing practice. A thorough assessment of patient data will include physical, emotional, developmental, social, intellectual, cultural, and spiritual information. The assessment will be documented during the perioperative phase. The RNFA will organize patient data and identify nursing diagnoses, formulating care plans in collaboration with other perioperative nurses. Implementation of care plans through nursing interventions will be coordinated throughout the patient's perioperative experience. A written plan of care will be developed based on identified patient problems and needs. The RNFA will contribute to the patient's evaluation and care through discharge. Supervision of personnel will promote readiness and timeliness for surgical procedures. Knowledge of the appearance of various tissues and structures during dissection techniques is required. The RNFA must understand the physiological consequences associated with manipulation or destruction of normal anatomy. Awareness of anatomy involved in surgical interventions is essential. Demonstration of understanding important nursing interventions related to particular surgical interventions is expected. Candidates must plan for wound closure in collaboration with the surgeon. Knowledge of asepsis and infection control principles is crucial. The RNFA will follow universal precautions and infection control guidelines. A working knowledge of methods of providing wound exposure is necessary. Improving visualization of the surgical site with appropriate techniques is required. Methods of providing hemostasis must be utilized properly. This position requires a team player who is reliable. Scrub color is provided. Candidates must adhere to established procedures for surgical hand scrubs. Continuous education and staying current on practices and techniques are essential for maintaining skills and knowledge.
