Job Summary

YKHC is seeking an experienced PACU/OR Registered Nurse to provide exceptional perioperative nursing care for patients of all ages, from newborns to geriatrics. The RN will deliver comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care while collaborating with the surgical team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Active Alaska RN License in good standing
• Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• 1–2 years of OR/PACU experience required
• Current BLS & ACLS
• PALS preferred
• National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred
• Knowledge of AORN Standards required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the surgical process (Pre-Op, Intra-Op, and PACU).
• Perform patient assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
• Administer medications, treatments, and patient education.
• Monitor patient recovery and respond to changes in condition.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Supervise Administrative Assistants, Schedulers, and CSR Techs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow evidence-based practice.

Skills & Experience

• Strong perioperative and PACU nursing skills.
• Knowledge of AORN standards and surgical procedures.
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient assessment skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Experience with cardiac monitors and other perioperative equipment.
