Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional fee surgical coding experience required
• CPC certification required
• Strong experience coding physician surgical services from operative reports and provider documentation
• Proficiency with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and surgical modifier assignment
• Working knowledge of global surgical package rules, NCCI edits, and bundling guidelines
• Understanding of Medicare and commercial payer requirements, medical necessity, and documentation standards
• Ability to code E&M services associated with surgical encounters
• Experience identifying coding edits and documentation needing clarification
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote healthcare environment with dependable communication and consistent productivity
• Successful completion of a coding assessment may be required

Responsibilities

• Review operative reports and physician documentation to assign accurate professional fee surgical codes
• Apply CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and appropriate modifiers in accordance with medical coding guidelines
• Code cases across a variety of surgical specialties, which may include general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, cardiovascular, vascular, gastrointestinal, urology, OB/GYN, ENT, and plastic or reconstructive surgery
• Ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and adherence to payer-specific requirements
• Resolve coding edits and identify documentation that requires clarification
• Maintain productivity and quality expectations for surgical coding workflows
• Collaborate professionally with internal teams while maintaining excellent responsiveness and communication
