Job Summary:
Operating Room nurse position available in State College, Pennsylvania. This role involves assessing and responding to patients' physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs through personal observation and interaction. The nurse acts as a patient advocate, utilizes professional nursing judgment, and communicates assessments to ensure coordinated patient care. The position offers a comprehensive opportunity to apply clinical skills, including knowledge of diagnostic measures and IV therapy, within a fast-paced surgical environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Day shift, 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, degree in nursing, located in or willing to relocate to State College, Pennsylvania, and a minimum of 0 years of experience in operating room nursing.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in perioperative nursing or related specialties, certification in perioperative nursing preferred.
- Additional Information: Responsibilities include transcribing and implementing physicians' orders, documenting in patient clinical records, providing patient and family education, and assisting with housekeeping duties. When assigned to perioperative areas such as PACU, the nurse assesses patient status, maintains airway, monitors vital signs, administers medications for pain control, and evaluates discharge criteria. The role may include supporting anesthesia procedures, assisting with nerve blocks, and responding to emergencies with knowledge of crash carts and emergency medications. The nurse may function as a float, maintaining communication across departments, relieving staff for breaks, and assisting in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms. Active participation in committees and continuous improvement efforts is encouraged.
