NIGHT-SHIFT OPERATING ROOM RN CONTRACT – LEVEL I TRAUMA CENTER WITH AUTO-OFFER TRACK

 

First Connect Health has an immediate 13-week travel contract opening for a highly skilled Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) in Santa Rosa, California. Operating within a 277-bed Level I Trauma acute care hospital, this role features a dedicated overnight routine. Please note: First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply provided they meet trauma and surgical specialty requirements. Local candidates are also accepted.

 

PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE

  • Weekly Gross: $2,296.00
  • Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,246.00
  • Hourly W2 Rate: $25.00/hr
  • Overtime Rate: $37.50/hr
  • Pay structure reflects California daily overtime parameters (24 Regular Hours + 12 Overtime Hours weekly).

SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 3x12-Hours (18:45 PM - 07:15 AM). Shift start times during general scheduling may vary between 07:00 AM and 09:00 AM if daytime shifts are assigned, but primary coverage is overnight. Block scheduling is available per manager discretion.
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
  • Night Staffing Layout: Night shifts are typically staffed with a 2-person team (1 RN / 1 Surgical Tech or 2 RNs, with one acting as the scrub).
  • On-Call & Weekend Requirements: On-call standby is distributed equally across all nursing staff every 6 weeks (tracking at roughly 6 to 8 call shifts per 6-week scheduling block, including nights, evenings, and 8-hour weekend blocks). On-call rate applies at $15.00/hr.
  • Surgical Scope & Case Mix: High-acuity coverage averaging 25 cases daily. Core service lines encompass Trauma (MVA, gunshot/stab wounds, amputations), Orthopedics (total joints, ortho trauma, Hana table), Neurosurgery (craniotomies, ALIF/XLIF, spinal fusions), Vascular (AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass), Robotics (Da Vinci Xi system), Plastics (microvascular free flaps, TRAM flap reconstruction), General, GU, GYN, ENT, Bariatrics, Podiatry, and Thoracic (VATS).
  • EMR & Facility Details: Epic charting system. Clinical scrubs are provided on-site. Parking is completely free of charge.

REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of clinical OR RN experience is required (5 years is strongly preferred). Hands-on experience in Trauma, Neuro, Vascular, and Ortho surgical specialties is strictly required to clear screening—this is a hard stop.
  • Licensure: Valid California State RN License must be fully active and in-hand at the time of submittal—pending licenses are not accepted.
  • Certifications Required: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) provider certification is mandatory.

Local Radius Policy & System Rules: Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are accepted, but will be processed at an adjusted lower local bill rate. Submissions are strictly limited to 1 facility location within the region at a time. All former permanent health-system employees must observe a mandatory 3-month separation window prior to returning on a travel assignment. Mandatory Regional Floating: Travelers are expected to float flexibly between nearby affiliate hospitals (including Queen of the Valley, Petaluma Valley, and Healdsburg) based on health-system needs. Refusal to float may result in contract termination and forfeiture of guaranteed hours. ️ Upfront Requested Time Off (RTO) Parameters: All desired RTO must be explicitly disclosed upfront at the initial submission. Travelers must commit to working at least 2 out of the 3 major holiday blocks (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's). Housing Guidance: Candidates should be advised to research local housing options in the Santa Rosa area early in the process, as regional housing availability can be limited.
