Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, and leading the OR team. The RN will develop individual care plans, implement and evaluate patient care during surgical procedures, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment and Care Plan Development (40%): Assess the needs of the surgical patient and create a specific care plan. Implement and evaluate the plan during the procedure, making necessary adjustments to prioritize patient safety.
• Supervision of OR Activities (30%): Supervise all activities in the operating room, coordinate schedule changes, assemble necessary equipment and supplies, assist anesthesia as needed, and monitor the sterile field.
• Communication (20%): Effectively communicate with the patient, their family, physicians, OR team members, supervisors, managers, and other ancillary departments.
• Staff Development (10%): Participate in staff development through attending in-services, educational meetings, staff meetings, and other seminars for leadership and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room.
• Experience in Level 2 Trauma cases.
• Proficiency in Orthopedic, Vascular, Neurosurgery, General/Gynecological, and Urology procedures.
• Recent travel work experience is highly preferred.
• Active Michigan state license required.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
