Job Details:
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and plans of care for surgical patients
• Provide patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical coordinators, and surgical technicians to ensure patient well-being during surgical intervention
• Maintain sterile fields and direct the correct care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments
• Apply principles of aseptic practice and oversee the selection and preparation of supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for all surgical cases
• Maintain sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policies and procedures, including notifying the surgeon of count results
• Identify, label, care for, and handle all specimens and cultures according to established policy and procedure
• Verify patient identification, consent forms, operative procedure, and site before taking patients to the operating room
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and policies
• Assess and reassess patient pain levels utilizing the numerical pain scale and document patient responses accordingly
• Complete thorough and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses
• O.R. nursing experience and CNOR strongly preferred
• Current MA RN license required
• ACLS required upon hire or active BLS card with AHA ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire
• Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in an environment with competing priorities
