Job Summary:
The Operating Room (OR) specialty position located in Springfield, Illinois, involves working in a Level I trauma center within an acute care hospital. The role entails supporting all service lines except cardiovascular, with general OR and trauma experience required. The position offers a rotating shift schedule, providing an opportunity to contribute to high-quality surgical patient care in a dynamic clinical environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week. Covering 13-26 weeks, with open scheduling options.
- Required Qualifications: Minimum 2.0 years of OR experience, active Illinois license in hand or in application process, BLS certification required, CNOR preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Cerner experience, Level I trauma experience.
- Certifications: BLS required, CNOR preferred.
- On-Call Requirement: Yes, once per week, though it is not typically frequent.
- Float: Float rotation may be required within scope of skill set.
- Open to accommodating block schedule: No.
- Experience in specific case types: Laparoscopic-assisted bariatric and general surgery cases including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure; neurology cases like cervical fusion, craniotomy, lumbar fusion; orthopedic procedures such as arthroscopy, fracture reductions; plastic surgery including free flap procedures; transplant skills with organ donation; urology cases like cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy; trauma cases involving amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple injuries; emergency management including code response, fire safety, and Malignant Hyperthermia.
- Equipment/Instrumentation: Electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables.
- Additional details: Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume trauma setting, with adaptability to support various surgical teams and procedures.
