Job Summary: Operating Room (OR) Nurse in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized surgical nursing care within a Level I trauma center. The position includes working night shifts with a focus on general surgery, trauma, and specialized cases, offering an opportunity for experienced OR nurses to contribute to a comprehensive acute care environment.
Job Details:
Schedule: 5x8 Night shifts (2245-0715), minimum 40 hours per week, starting on 08/31/2026
Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or in application process, 2.0 years of OR experience, trauma level I experience, BLS certification required, minimum 2.5 years of total clinical experience, general surgery and trauma experience, Cerner charting system experience preferred, previous charge nurse experience preferred, knowledge of emergency management procedures, equipment and instrumentation experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables, and sterile technique.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification in CNOR, experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and Mazor Robot, familiarity with laparoscopic and bariatric procedures, and military or community hospital experience.
Additional Requirements: Must be able to work with all service lines except cardiovascular (CV); unique case experience in bariatric, neurology, orthopedic, plastic surgery, transplant, urology, and trauma is required; on-call rotation of one night per week, with the possibility of working major holidays, and compliance with firm RTO and hospitalization policies.
Facility & Patient Care Details:
Acute Care Hospital with 562 beds, Level I trauma center, and Magnet designation.
Support services include IV teams, respiratory and radiology services, and pharmacy.
Patient age groups: adolescents, adults, geriatrics.

Other Position Details:
Must have active Illinois license or be in application; no local candidates accepted for OR RN roles (must reside at least 50 miles from facility).
Candidate is required to complete mandatory modules pre-start; orientation involves virtual at-home days with strict deadlines.
