Job Summary:
Operating Room Nurse in San Luis Obispo, California. The position involves assisting surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, coordinating equipment, supplies, and staff to ensure patient safety throughout the perioperative phase. The role includes participation in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shift; Day/Evening, 8-hour shifts, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred; Current RN license in the state of practice; One year previous full-time experience in the operating room; BLS or equivalent certification from an approved vendor; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor is preferred; ACLS certification required; Facility-specific certifications as needed
- Preferred Qualifications: Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR); Experience in Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and Trauma
- Additional Information:
- Competent to circulate during surgical procedures
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and safe operation of all operating room equipment
- Ability to prepare patients for surgery, including anatomical positioning
- Capable of performing patient care planning and assessment pre, intra, and post-procedure
- Proficient in handling and disposing of biohazardous materials
- Access facility information systems for patient care support
- Knowledge of emergency preparedness and safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials and waste
- Responsible for documenting tissue temperature, verifying package integrity, and ensuring proper delivery to sterile field
- Efficient use of downtime for chart auditing, cleaning, restocking, training, and educational modules
