Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in circulating and scrubbing roles within the operating room, along with proven leadership experience in a charge nurse capacity. The successful applicant will ensure the efficient operation of the operating room while providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the operating room, coordinating with surgical teams and supporting staff to ensure timely and effective patient care.
• Effectively communicate with anesthesia teams, surgeons, providers, and nursing personnel.
• Prioritize and handle varying acuity levels, including trauma and emergent cases, while accommodating urgent and add-on procedures.
• Assist in the care and management of patients undergoing general surgery, trauma, urology, podiatry, orthopedics, plastics, neurosurgery, gynecology, endoscopies, ENT, thoracic, vascular, cardiac, and bariatric procedures, including the use of DaVinci robotics.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a sterile environment in the operating room.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in circulating/scrubbing roles within the operating room.
• At least 2 years of experience in a charge nurse role within an operating room or trauma unit.
• Proficient in general surgery, bariatrics, trauma, GYN, urology, robotics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and podiatry.
• Must possess a valid RN state license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; CNOR certification is preferred.
• Experience with Epic EMR system is required.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to a day shift schedule of 4x10 hours (06:45 - 17:15), with the expectation to work holidays and weekends as needed. The RN will be required to take on-call shifts approximately 5-6 calls per 4-week period, including weekend on-call duties.

Patient Demographics

The role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients in a Level II trauma center setting.

Additional Information

Floating between specialties and potentially to other locations within the region is expected as per departmental needs. The candidate must demonstrate flexibility and teamwork while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
