Job Summary:
Operating Room Nurse in San Luis Obispo, California. This position involves assisting surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, coordinating equipment, supplies, and staff, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative phase. The role includes participation in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment. This position is represented by CNA.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week. Shift times will rotate between day and evening shifts, with at least one night and one weekend shift per week.
- Required Qualifications: Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Current RN license in the state of practice. One year of full-time experience in the operating room. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR).
- Essential Functions: Competent to circulate during surgical procedures; knowledgeable of and applies principles of aseptic technique; operates all routine surgical equipment; prepares patients for surgery, including anatomical positioning; performs patient care assessments before, during, and after procedures; handles biohazardous materials safely; accesses facility information systems for patient care; demonstrates knowledge of safety, emergency preparedness, hazardous materials control, life safety, and medical equipment; documents tissue temperatures and package integrity; efficiently uses downtime for unit-specific work; performs other duties as assigned.
