Job Details:
• Work in a Level I Trauma Center operating room open 24/7, 365 days a year
• Multiple shift time options available:
- 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM
- 2:45 PM to 7:15 PM
- 10:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- 3x 12-hour shifts
- 2x 8-hour and 2x 12-hour shifts
- 5x 8-hour shifts
- RT/Hybrid: Monday through Thursday 8 or 10-hour shifts
• OR operates Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM, with skeleton crew after 11:00 PM for trauma and urgent cases only
• Saturday and Sunday OR hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with skeleton crew after 5:00 PM for trauma and urgent cases only
• Weekend rotation required every 4th weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday coverage required
• 6-week schedule provided 2 to 4 weeks in advance; rotation-based scheduling with no self-scheduling
• On-call responsibilities dependent on shift and service line; 30-minute response time required with sleeping room available for on-call team members
• Approximately 60 to 75 cases per day including outpatient, inpatient, and trauma patients
• Case types include general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, open hearts/CABG, transplant (kidney and heart), donor cases, GSW, and stabbings
• Hybrid room sees 5 to 10 cases per day including TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions
• 20% pediatric cases including open hearts, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy
• OR RN must be able to scrub and circulate; trauma experience at a Level I or II facility required; critical care experience preferred
• CVOR RN must be able to scrub and circulate adult or pediatric open-heart cases with critical care and Level I trauma experience
• 2 to 3 years of acute care OR experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and EPIC EMR
• Scrubs are provided
• Free parking available
• No floating to other units
Facility:
This facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with 794 beds. The operating room department includes 28 beds with 2 hybrid rooms designated for cardiovascular and vascular procedures. The facility provides a wide range of surgical services including transplant, trauma, robotics, cardiovascular, neurological, and pediatric cases. The department is supported by charge nurses, anesthesiologists, resource nurses, educators, service line representatives, and EPIC super-users.
