Job Summary: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse position available in an acute care facility. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and diagnostic procedures. The RN closely monitors patient conditions during the immediate post-anesthesia period, manages pain and nausea, identifies potential complications, and ensures patient stability prior to transfer or discharge.
Job Details:
Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license. Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred by many employers. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification typically required. PACU, ICU, critical-care, emergency department, or perioperative nursing experience may be preferred depending on the facility. Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and emergency-response skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous PACU or critical-care experience. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification when caring for pediatric patients. Certifications such as Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Candidate for Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CAPA). Experience with airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and postoperative recovery.
Additional Information: This role requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, stressful environment, following Standard Precautions and personal protective equipment protocols.
