Job Summary:
Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in a fast-paced surgical environment. The PACU RN provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and procedural interventions. This role involves closely monitoring patients during the immediate post-operative period, managing airways and pain, recognizing complications, and ensuring patients meet discharge criteria.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; PALS certification as required based on patient population; strong airway assessment and management skills; experience with cardiac monitoring and recognition of dysrhythmias; strong knowledge of post-anesthesia medications, pain management, and potential surgical complications; ability to recognize and respond rapidly to deterioration in patient condition; strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and prioritization skills; ability to independently manage patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity recovery environment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Recent Phase I and Phase II PACU experience; experience recovering patients following general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC); experience with a variety of surgical specialties and patient acuity levels; critical care or intensive care unit nursing background; experience with airway emergencies and post-anesthesia complications; experience with electronic medical record systems.
• The candidate should be an experienced, clinically confident nurse with strong critical-care assessment skills, comfortable managing airway, cardiac monitoring, pain control, and responding to post-operative or anesthesia-related complications.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include performing comprehensive post-anesthesia assessments, monitoring vital signs, airway management, administering medications, managing complications, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, and providing discharge instructions. Accurate documentation and adherence to safety standards are essential.
