Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse position in Madison, Wisconsin, involves independent peri-anesthetic management of a complex and varied surgical patient population. This role requires developing trusting relationships with patients and their families while providing high-quality care in a Magnet-designated facility known for clinical excellence. The position is suitable for qualified registered nurses with critical care experience seeking a rewarding work environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 10-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with a start time between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. depending on operational needs. The schedule requires a minimum of 40 hours per week. There may be an on-call requirement on weekends, with 1-2 weekend call shifts during the assignment.
- Required Qualifications: Valid registered nurse license, at least two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty submitting to, critical care background, experience working pre/post operatively with varied surgical patient populations, Epic electronic health record experience, and passing a telemetry exam with strict criteria. Certifications include American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with trauma Level II patients.
- Additional Information: The unit cares for adult patients with diverse surgical diagnoses including transplant, orthopedic, ophthalmology, plastics, ENT, trauma, neurosurgery, thoracic, cardiac, and more. The role involves strong ICU/PACU experience, working independently in peri-anesthetic management, and developing therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Travelers are required to float as needed and must meet minimum experience and testing requirements.
