PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate PACU Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team. This position involves providing critical post-anesthesia care to patients of varying age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.

Job Overview

The PACU Registered Nurse will work rotating day shifts totaling 36 hours per week. Shifts will vary between two 8-hour shifts (07:00 - 15:30) and two 10-hour shifts (07:00 - 17:30). The PACU operates during the hours of 07:30 - 20:30, and nurses may be scheduled for varying shifts within this timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care to patients recovering from anesthesia.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and assess patient conditions post-operatively.
  • Administer medications, including pain management protocols as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams and communicate patient status effectively.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-operative care requirements.
  • Participate in necessary floating to related specialty units and facilities as required.
  • Adhere to established protocols, policies, and procedures for patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
  • Current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Prior experience in the PACU or critical care setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Schedule Requirements

  • Availability to work holidays as scheduled.
  • Every other weekend commitment is required, including on-call duties.
  • On-call responsibilities involve three shifts within a four-week period, including times on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
