Travel Registered Nurse – Perioperative/PACU | Cincinnati, Ohio

Cincinnati, Ohio travel nursing opportunity for a Perioperative Registered Nurse supporting preoperative care and Phase II PACU recovery. Join a fast-paced same-day surgery team caring for adult and older adolescent patients before and after surgical procedures. You will collaborate closely with anesthesia and surgical services to help ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. This 13-week weekday travel nurse assignment offers a consistent daytime schedule with no scheduled call requirement.

Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120–$2,230

• Typical Hours: 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.; schedules may vary between approximately 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

• Patient Population: Adults and occasional older adolescent patients
• Department Setting: Same-day surgery and perioperative services with approximately 35–40 cases per day
• Travel Requirement: Applicants residing within 50 miles of the assignment location are not eligible

Perioperative and PACU RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact-state license
• At least 2 years of perioperative, critical care, PACU, or closely related nursing experience
• Recent perioperative or same-day surgery experience, including patient preparation and Phase II recovery
• Strong IV insertion skills and experience preparing patients for surgery
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Successful completion of a required dysrhythmia examination
• Ability to provide safe, age-appropriate care across adult and adolescent patient populations
• Ability to collaborate effectively with surgical, anesthesia, nursing, and support teams
• CNOR certification, gastroenterology nursing experience, or operating room internship experience is preferred

Perioperative Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive preoperative and postoperative assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Prepare patients for surgery, including IV insertion, positioning, pre-procedure education, and safety checks
• Provide Phase II PACU recovery care, monitor patient responses, and identify changes requiring intervention
• Administer medications safely and evaluate treatment effectiveness according to nursing standards and applicable policies
• Assist anesthesia during induction and emergence while maintaining close observation of patient status
• Provide discharge teaching and instructions to patients and families following procedures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care throughout the surgical experience
• Maintain aseptic technique and support a safe, organized perioperative environment
• Safely transport and reposition patients and assist with equipment, supplies, and surgical preparation
• Document patient assessments, interventions, outcomes, and handoffs accurately
• Float to Endoscopy or PACU when needed and within the nurse's scope of practice
