• Position: PACU RN Travel Nurse
• Location: Artesia, NM
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,200 - $2,310
• Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts
• Schedule: Monday through Friday with call; typically one call shift per week and one weekend call per month
• Estimated Shifts per Week: 5
• Hours per Week: 40
• Care Setting: Acute care PACU / Preop
• Unit Focus: Preop, PACU, Phase 1, Phase 2, and discharge recovery
• Start: ASAP

Job Requirements

• Active RN license
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
• PACU experience strongly preferred
• Orthopedic nursing experience required
• Endoscopy experience preferred
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips
• Comfortable with call responsibilities and occasional weekend coverage
• First-time travelers welcome to apply
• Experience with CPSI EMR or similar electronic medical record systems is helpful

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality post-anesthesia care for patients in Preop and PACU
• Rotate between Preop, Phase 1, Phase 2, and discharge recovery as needed
• Monitor patients recovering from procedures including orthopedics, gynecology, urology, pain management, podiatry, general surgery, and endoscopy
• Assess patient status, manage recovery needs, and escalate concerns promptly
• Interpret telemetry strips and maintain close observation of patient condition
• Support safe patient flow with attention to admissions, transfers, and discharge readiness
• Participate in call coverage and remain available to support the unit when on call
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to deliver efficient, compassionate patient care
