Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in outpatient PACU, Perioperative, and Endoscopic care. This position will involve caring for patients recovering from anesthesia and procedures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and proper recovery.

Shift Notes

• 10-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday
• Occasional Fridays based on on-call schedule
• Daily shift hours may vary by department
• Departments: Perioperative starts at 6:00 AM, Endoscopy at 6:30 AM, Recovery at 8:00 AM

Weekend Requirements

Registered Nurses will be required to work every fifth weekend and on holidays as needed, typically on a rotating basis.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the PACU, ensuring optimal recovery from anesthesia.
• Monitor vital signs and assess patients’ condition post-procedure.
• Start and maintain IV lines as required.
• Collaborate effectively with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Educate patients and families regarding post-anesthesia care and recovery processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of current outpatient PACU experience is required.
• Experience in Perioperative and Endoscopy care is essential.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
• Experience in small critical access facilities is preferred.
• Candidates must have their own vehicle due to travel requirements.

Certification and Licensing Requirements

• Active Vermont RN license or Compact RN license.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association.
