PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The PACU Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in providing post-anesthesia care to patients. This position requires a knowledgeable and skilled individual to manage patient recovery effectively, ensuring safety and comfort following surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer appropriate post-operative care for patients who have undergone various surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition while providing support and reassurance.
• Coordinate with the surgical team regarding patient status and recovery progress.
• Assist in pre and post-procedure care for both catheterization lab and interventional radiology procedures.
• Float to the Holding area within the PACU department as necessary, maintaining a ratio of 1:3-5 patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in a Level 1 trauma center and telemetry.
• Certifications required: BCLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• Willingness to participate in on-call duties, with 1-2 overnight call shifts per month.
• Ability to float within the department as needed, adapting to care for varying patient conditions.
• Pending licensure may be accepted.

Work Schedule

• Mandatory work during 2 out of the following 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day.
• One weekend shift per month required.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week, with the possibility of being called off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment.
• Requests for time off greater than 7 days require prior approval.

Additional Information

• This position involves a scrubs dress code, specifically black scrubs.
• Charting is performed using Cerner.
• No parking fees are applicable for staff.
