PCU Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown 13-Week Contract in Warren, Ohio
Join our healthcare team as a PCU Travel Registered Nurse in Warren, Ohio, caring for complex adult and geriatric patients in a progressive care setting. This on-site travel nursing job is ideal for an experienced PCU, stepdown, SDU, or IMCU nurse who is confident managing cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, renal, and multisystem conditions.
Work alongside an interdisciplinary team in a collaborative environment while caring for a diverse, high-acuity patient population. This Ohio nursing contract offers 12-hour day shifts, three shifts per week, and approximately 36 hours weekly.
Travel Nursing Job Details

PCU Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent PCU, stepdown, SDU, or IMCU nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current Registered Nurse license in the working state or a valid compact nursing license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification
- Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination; study materials are available
- Demonstrated competency caring for patients requiring mechanical ventilation at the intermediate-care level
- Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and heated high-flow nasal cannula
- Ability to manage complex patients receiving cardiac and other commonly used infusions, including Cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, Lasix, and Bumex
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and patient advocacy skills
- BSN, PCCN, CCRN, and prior EPIC experience are preferred
PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments, identify patient priorities, and develop individualized plans of care
- Provide evidence-based nursing care for patients with mixed intermediate-care acuity
- Care for patients with NSTEMI, cardiac dysrhythmias, heart failure, COPD, COVID-related respiratory illness, GI bleeding, acute kidney injury, chronic renal failure, and neurologic conditions
- Safely administer medications and monitor the effectiveness of treatments and interventions
- Monitor patients receiving cardiac drips, hemodynamic monitoring, noninvasive ventilation, high-flow oxygen, and mechanical ventilation
- Recognize subtle changes in patient condition and respond rapidly using clinical judgment and evidence-based practice
- Manage and monitor chest tubes, temporary or transvenous pacing, and patients undergoing conscious sedation as assigned
- Support patients undergoing cardioversions, transesophageal echocardiograms, stress testing, and other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures
- Coordinate care with providers, nursing assistants, ancillary departments, patients, families, and caregivers
- Provide patient and family education, emotional support, discharge preparation, and compassionate advocacy
- Promote patient safety, privacy, infection prevention, quality improvement, and culturally responsive care
- Delegate appropriately, collaborate with the care team, and maintain accountability for personal and delegated responsibilities
