PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Nursing Contract in Olympia, WA

Travel Nursing Job Details

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770–$1,860
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Setting: Progressive Care Unit and float coverage across PCU, medical-surgical, and telemetry units
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics, including emergency department boarders, telemetry, medical-surgical, and progressive care patients
- Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4–6, based on unit acuity
- Charting: Epic
- Coverage: Weekend and holiday coverage may be required
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license; compact license must be in hand when applicable
- At least 3 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in PCU, progressive care, step-down, intermediate care, telemetry, or a comparable acute care setting
- Recent charge nurse experience is required
- Previous clinical experience in the United States is required
- Current ACLS and NIHSS certifications
- Experience with Epic or a comparable electronic health record system
- Demonstrated ability to float between PCU, medical-surgical, and telemetry units
- Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage changing patient acuity and care assignments in a fast-paced environment
Progressive Care RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, neurologic, and other complex conditions
- Float throughout the organization to PCU, medical-surgical, and telemetry units based on staffing and patient care needs
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Care for patients requiring telemetry, oxygen therapy, noninvasive airway support, central and peripheral lines, PICC management, chest tubes, drains, feeding tubes, and other acute care interventions
- Administer blood products, manage prescribed protocols, and safely monitor patients receiving cardiac, insulin, and vasoactive infusions according to unit policy
- Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient outcomes
- Recognize clinical deterioration and collaborate with rapid response, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV services, and other members of the care team
- Provide charge nurse coverage on designated smaller units, including staffing coordination, bed flow, and general unit oversight
- Promote safe transitions of care through effective patient education, documentation, handoff communication, and discharge planning
