Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in a Trauma Stepdown unit, providing exceptional nursing care to multi-system injured trauma patients and surgical patients. This position offers an opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Trauma Stepdown and surgical units.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and health status, ensuring timely interventions as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following established protocols.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Perform necessary nursing procedures including IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation.
• Participate in ongoing education and training, including orientation and specialty-specific skill enhancement.

Shift Information

Position is available for night shifts with flexible scheduling options of 3x12 or 4x12 hours. Every other weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid RN license (WV/Compact) with at least 2 years of nursing experience, including a minimum of 1 year in a specialty area such as PCU, IMC, Trauma, or SDU.
• First-time travelers accepted if experienced in ICU or Trauma.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required; TNCC preferred.
• Competency in IV starts, ventilator management, and telemetry is essential.
• Fit testing for masks must be completed prior to the start of employment.

Unit Information

The unit consists of 25 Floor Beds, 6 Step-Down Beds, and 6 Pediatric Beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 for Floor RNs and 1:3 for SDU RNs.

Additional Information

Travelers may float within their scope to meet facility needs and can be accommodated with blocked schedule requests. All staff are required to receive a flu vaccination unless documented medical proof of allergy is provided. The flu season runs from October 1st to March 31st.
