Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our progressive care trauma unit. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries, primarily after surgical intervention. This is a crucial role that requires the ability to manage complex patient needs in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring monitoring and treatment for surgical trauma and related conditions.
• Utilize telemetry systems to monitor patient heart rates and other critical health indicators.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams.
• Administer medications and perform medical procedures as necessary in accordance with established protocols.
• Assess patient conditions, develop care plans, and document progress in electronic medical records.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and post-discharge care.

Qualifications

• Current RN license.
• 2+ years of nursing experience required for first-time travelers.
• Certification in ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS is required.
• Ability to work a 36-hour schedule with weekend shifts as part of a six-week block.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a high-intensity, fast-paced environment.

Patient Care Information

The unit consists of 41 beds and utilizes a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 as needed. Patients on this unit are hemodynamically stable and include those suffering from injuries such as gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, and falls.

Additional Information

The role requires a commitment to interdisciplinary support and collaboration to optimize patient outcomes. Nurses will have access to services including pharmacy, social services, transportation, and phlebotomy, ensuring comprehensive care is delivered effectively.
