PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Scheduling Details

• Shift Hours: 3x12s, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
• Weekend Requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block.
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract.
• RTO: All requests must be submitted with the application.
• Call Off Policy: Facility may call off one shift every two weeks.
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted.
• Locals Accepted: Yes, subject to radius rule criteria.

Required License & Certifications

• ACLS / BLS / NIHSS
• Pending License Accepted: Yes, if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state. Otherwise, an active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license is required.

Required Clinical Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, activation of Rapid Response/Code teams.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care.
• Administration and management of cardiac drips (including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix – no titration).
• Respiratory support (e.g., nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, non-invasive airway management).

Unit Details and Responsibilities

• Staffing Ratios: Days - 1:5 (Goal ratio is 4:1; however, consistently working at a 1:5 ratio).
• Unit focuses on caring for adult and geriatric patients with high turnover rates.
• Primary focus includes chest pain management, expediting ER flow, and ruling in/out myocardial infarction.
• Overflow support from cardiology and medicine PCU, with occasional post-cath patients.
• Remote telemetry with monitors on the unit; tele-sitting implemented.
• Floating may be required within skill set.
