Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Overview

The position is for a 12-bed unit that applies critical care and neuroscience principles at the Intermediate level. The unit primarily handles patients transitioning from Neuro ICU and caters to various patient populations, including:

• Patients with neuro trauma
• Subarachnoid, intraventricular, or intracerebral hemorrhage
• ENT patients with cancer undergoing tumor resection and flap reconstruction
• Post-operative spine patients
• A wide range of neurological issues

Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3.

Job Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the following:

• Providing comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced intermediate care environment.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Monitoring and assessing patients' conditions and vital signs.
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Educating patients and families regarding health management and recovery plans.

Schedule

• Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Work includes every other weekend and every other holiday.
• Time off of 40 hours may be approved.

Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system is required.
• Must comply with float policy within the organization.
• Virginia nursing license pending is acceptable.
