Travel Nursing Job Details

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,860–$1,960
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Flexibility to work holidays and days surrounding holidays as needed
- Unit: 44-bed cardiac progressive care/stepdown unit
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Charting: MEDITECH
- Telemetry: Philips monitoring; nurses must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms
- Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs and facility-compliant professional appearance
PCU RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Georgia
- At least 2 years of recent acute-care progressive care unit or cardiac stepdown nursing experience
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Current ACLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Progressive care nursing experience with cardiac monitoring, titratable drips, chest tubes, and postoperative cardiovascular patients
- Ability to float to the ICU to care for appropriate stepdown-level patients; nurses without ICU experience may be asked to assist with task-based assignments
- Willingness to follow unit standards, including professional appearance and attendance expectations
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-turnover acute-care environment with frequent admissions and discharges
Progressive Care Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac and cardiothoracic stepdown patients in an acute-care setting
- Care for patients following CABG, thoracotomy, VATS, EVAR, AAA repair, femoral-popliteal procedures, arteriograms, carotid endarterectomies, stent placement, pacemaker insertion, ablation, and AICD procedures
- Monitor and manage patients with CHF, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, postoperative pacing wires, chest tubes, and other complex cardiovascular needs
- Safely administer and monitor titratable therapies, including Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, Lasix, Bumex, Primacor, and other ordered infusions
- Manage patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP during sleep, Vapotherm, and high-flow oxygen; full ventilator management is not required on the unit
- Perform focused assessments, medication administration, care planning, patient education, and timely documentation in MEDITECH
- Read and interpret telemetry strips and promptly identify changes in cardiac rhythm or patient condition
- Assist with the removal of temporary pacer wires after appropriate training and competency validation
- Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, the PICC team, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Support safe patient transitions in a fast-paced progressive care unit with frequent admissions, discharges, and transfers
