Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Medical PCU

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cardiac care and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Position Overview

This position involves working in a 30-private bed Cardiac Medical Progressive Care department that operates 24/7. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing care, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting cardiac patients, including those with congestive heart failure and acute coronary syndrome.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and interpret dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring.
• Provide pre and post-operative care for cardiac catheterization.
• Administer and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required).
• Conduct procedural sedation and manage chest tubes (Emerson, Pleur-evac).
• Oversight of tracheostomy and external CPAP/BIPAP management.
• Participate in the use of Rapid Response Teams as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with cardiac PCU experience preferred.
• Previous charge RN experience is preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required; NIH certification preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Comfortable managing patient ratios of 1:4 with drips/BIPAP and generally 1:5.

Schedule

This role requires a commitment to a rotating schedule, which includes three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, along with weekend and holiday rotations as needed. Staff will assist in scheduling based on departmental needs.
