- Setting: Progressive Care / Stepdown with float support to ICU or Med/Surg Tele as needed
- Additional Requirement: Dysrhythmia exam required
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact licensure eligibility
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- 6 months of acute care hospital experience preferred
- Experience caring for ICU-level patients as needed
- Experience with vents and trachs required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Ability to manage stepdown patients and adapt to changing acuity in a high-acuity hospital environment
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Comfort with electronic health record documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Professionalism, flexibility, and composure in a fast-paced clinical setting
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU and stepdown patients using the nursing process
- Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor clinical status, and respond quickly to changes in condition
- Administer medications safely and accurately in accordance with nursing standards and hospital policies
- Care for patients requiring advanced respiratory support, including trachs, vents, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Manage complex cardiac and critical care drips, including fixed-rate infusions
- Support patients with chest tubes, central lines, PICCs, midlines, and other devices
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate treatment plans and patient education
- Float to ICU or Med/Surg Tele as needed based on unit needs and patient acuity
- Promote patient safety, comfort, and positive outcomes in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold high standards of care throughout the travel nursing assignment
