Progressive Care Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Information

Night shift: 1845 to 0715. Scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation. No guarantee of hours. No call duties.

Unit Information

The Progressive Care Unit consists of 15 beds, with 3 dedicated to Step Down ICU and 12 designated for telemetry. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 for Progressive Care and 1:3 for Step Down ICU.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care to patients.
• Monitor telemetry and interpret telemetry strips.
• Conduct fingerstick blood sugar tests.

Equipment Utilized

• Meditech charting system.
• Pyxis for medication management.
• BIPAP devices.
• Continuous cardiac monitoring systems.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Experience in Progressive Care and telemetry is preferred.
• General certifications required: BLS/BCLS and ACLS.
• Active Hawaii nursing license is required prior to the start of the assignment.
• Preferred certifications include current PALS and NIHSS certification.

Floating Requirement

Nurses may be required to float to other acute care units, including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER as needed.

Dress Code

Scrubs are required for all nursing staff.

Holiday Coverage

Holiday coverage is required as part of the nursing responsibilities.
