RN - Cardiac PCU
Job Details:
• Cardiac Progressive Care Unit position caring for adults and geriatric patients
• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4 across all shifts (may be 1:5 at midnight)
• Staffing model is 4:1 for telemetry and 3:1 for high acuity and special procedures
• Every other weekend required with flexibility to meet unit needs
• Floating required to like units - travelers must be flexible
• Unit does not accept first-time travelers - travel experience is required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Surgical telemetry experience required, including vascular, groin/radial band management, and IV skills
• 2-3 years of telemetry experience required; VAD and TAVR experience preferred
• Epic experience is a hard stop requirement
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Self-scheduling unit
• Care for patients with myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab procedures, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
• Perform and manage breathing treatments, chest tube set-up and care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, and sternal precautions
• Administer blood and blood products
• Perform cardioversion and defibrillation and manage epicardial pacers
• Manage LVAD and open heart post-op patients within the first 24-28 hours
• Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Manage stable drips including Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Antiarrhythmics, Beta Blockers, Cardizem, Hydralazine, Ketamine, Lasix, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, and Levophed
• Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
Facility:
This facility operates a 36-bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit with a daily census of 32 patients, serving adults and geriatric populations. The unit provides specialized structural heart support and comprehensive interdisciplinary services including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, unit secretaries, and interpretation services. The facility maintains high standards for patient care and utilizes Epic as its primary charting system.
