PCU RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and major holidays; a blocked weekend schedule may be accommodated
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients with cardiac, cardiopulmonary, and progressive care needs
- Typical Assignment Ratio: 1:3–4, subject to unit needs
- Unit Features: Continuous cardiac monitoring, bedside monitors, and experienced charge nurse support

Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
- At least 6 months of recent acute-care hospital experience preferred
- Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a valid compact-state license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Ability to successfully complete an EKG examination during orientation and read and verify rhythm strips
- Proficiency with laboratory draws and peripheral IV starts
- Recent experience managing and titrating cardiac infusions, including Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, and Amiodarone
- Experience with insulin infusions and BiPAP
- Ability to provide care within demonstrated competency and scope of practice when floating to appropriate units
PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing patient assessments using the nursing process.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
- Care for patients with heart block, chronic cardiac conditions, cardiac rhythm concerns, chest tubes, and progressive cardiopulmonary needs.
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and promptly identify and respond to changes in patient condition.
- Safely administer, monitor, and titrate prescribed cardiac and insulin infusions.
- Manage patients requiring BiPAP and advanced respiratory support within the Registered Nurse’s scope of practice.
- Administer medications safely and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Recognize and respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions, including multisystem complications.
- Coordinate care with patients, families, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Provide patient education, emotional support, and advocacy to patients and their support systems.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect patient safety, privacy, and dignity.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based patient care.
- Float to ICU, Medical-Surgical, or Emergency Department assignments when appropriate and within demonstrated competencies.
