Job Summary:
A Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in a healthcare facility located in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The role involves providing specialized patient care in a fast-paced unit that handles various diagnoses such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke. The RN will be responsible for managing patient conditions, reading and interpreting strips on telemetry monitors, and titrating specific drips as needed. This position requires a team-oriented professional with a positive attitude and patient-centered approach, working primarily night shifts.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts from 06:30 PM to 07:00 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification, minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with telemonitor interpretation, titrating drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro, and float experience to ICU.
- Float: Will float to ICU if appropriate and has experience.
- Additional Information:
- Includes department-specific orientation of one 12-hour shift.
- Must pass an open book skills exam with 90% or higher during orientation.
- Candidates must have a valid drivers license, be outside a 50-mile radius, and not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization within the past year.
- Artificial nails are prohibited.
- The unit maintains a 1:4 RN-to-patient ratio with additional staffing including nurse aides and respiratory therapy equipment on site.
- The unit handles high patient turnover, requiring teamwork, patient orientation, and a positive attitude for success.
- RTO (Reason To Operate) requests must be made upfront; no additional RTO will be approved after submission.
